Agent says 2020 could be Warren Weir's last season on the track

Cubie Seegobin, the athlete manager and agent for 2012 Olympic 200m silver medallist Warren Weir says 2020 could be the final track and field season for the 30 year old. Seegobin who also manages Yohan Blake and Dannielle Williams, says the former calabar athlete who now trains with Lance Brauman in Florida, may focus more on his ventures outside of track and field.

“I think that this will be his last year. But I hope that he will make the Jamaican team and run for Jamaica again. The problem with Warren is his success. Warren makes a lot of money off the track; he’s very entrepreneurish, he’s very creative in his social media and you can’t blame a guy for that. You make a name for yourself and you use your other skills. A lot of people don’t have another skill and so they stay around and run until they are 40 or 50,” said Seegobin who was a guest on Hitz 92 FM’s Sports Grill on Wednesday.

Weir also won silver in the men's 200m at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, Russia.
