Atkinson breaks 50m breaststroke World Short Course record

Jamaica's Alia Atkinson broke her own world record in the short course 50 metre breast stroke, clocking 28.56 seconds to win gold at the FINA World Cup in Budapest, Hungary on Saturday, erasing the old mark she held at 28.64 seconds from 2016. Atkinson blew away the second place finisher Yuulia Efimova of Russia who clocked 29.22 seconds with American Molly Hannis third in 29.51 seconds.

It was Atkinson's second gold medal at the meet as she won the 100 metre breaststroke on Friday in 1:02.80, just off her world record of 1:02.36 seconds. The next stop on the FINA World Cup Series will be in Beijing from November 2-4.
