Atkinson goes for second medal at 2018 Commonwealth Games

Jamaica's Alia Atkinson will hunt her’s and the country's second medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia when she competes in the women's 50 meter butterfly final on Sunday. She qualified for the final after posting 26.84 seconds for third in her semi-final on Saturday. She had also clocked 26.91 seconds for third in her heat. 

 
Elsewhere on the day, Jamaica's female basketballers were beaten 80-49 by New Zealand in their second match in Pool "B" of the competition. Jennifer George led the Jamaican women with 12 points while Shenneika Smith scored 8 points. The Jamaicans who had beaten India 66-57 in their opening match, will play Malaysia on Sunday in their next group game.

The nation's track and field athletes will also bow into action on Sunday while the Sunshine Girls will hunt their third straight win when they take on Northern Ireland in Pool "A".
