Big win for Charlie Smith

Two-time champion Charlie Smith returned to winning ways on Monday, with a 5-1 beating of Mona as the return games in the first round of the ISSA LIME Manning Cup got underway.

Kimani Arbourne scored twice in the emphatic victory which was the second over Mona this season.

Charlie Smith now has 13 points, six clear of Excelsior, but Excelsior has a game in hand.

In Group F, Hydel, the leader, was held to a second successive draw, after ending 0-0 with St. Jago.

Hydel still leads the group on 14 points, just one ahead of Calabar. The strong position of Calabar is due in large part to a 3-0 victory over Penwood, including a double from Roshawn Barrett. St. Jago is third on 10 points.

St Catherine and Eltham ended 1-1 in the group's other game.

In Group C, Innswood went to second place, after a 2-0 victory over St Mary's College.

Tivoli also kept its slim second round hopes alive with a 4-2 victory over Edith Dalton James.

Meanwhile, in the ISSA LIME Dacosta Cup, Clarendon College made it five from five after blanking Claude McKay 4-0 to stay atop Zone H.

Marcus Garvey, leading in Zone I, also got win number five but from six matches after stopping Browns Town 3-0.

Mile Gully opened a six-point gap on Decarteret College in Zone F after a close 2-1 win.
