Boldon not alarmed by Thompson's third place finish in Eugene

Voice of Trinidadian Olympian Ato Boldon

Olympic silver medallist and broadcaster Ato Boldon says he is not concerned about the form of Olympic double gold medallist Elaine Thompson heading into this summer’s IAAF World Championships in London.

Thompson finished third in the 200 metres at the Diamond League meet in Eugene in a season's best 21.98 seconds at the weekend.

“I have some information that Elaine was not a-hundred percent but in this sport if you line up, no excuses. She lost to a phenomenal performance. She obviously didn’t look herself but anybody who has been watching Elaine knows that Elaine will be fine. She hasn’t lost in a year and she’s human,” noted Boldon.

While praising the efforts of Tori Bowie in winning the race in a world-leading 21.77 seconds, Boldon said he took notice of one specific performance.

“To me the big revelation in that race (was) Shaunae Miller-Uibo running 21.9 ‘cause when you have the Olympic 400m champion running 21.9 people who know the sport realize what that means; she’ll be attempting a 400/200 double in London,” said Boldon.
