The world's fastest man Usain Bolt dipped below 10 seconds for the first time this season, clocking 9.95 seconds, as he secured a narrow victory in the 100 metres at the Diamond League meet in Monaco. Bolt had to work hard to hold off American Isaiah Young who was second in 9.98 with South African Akani Simbine third in 10.02.

Reigning world champion Danielle Williams, Janieve Russell and Kimberly Williams were the next best placed Jamaicans at the meet finishing third in the 100m and 400m hurdles respectively.

Danielle Williams clocked 12.58 seconds in the sprint hurdles to finish behind winner and world record holder Kendra Harrison in 12.51 and fellow American Sharicka Nelvis 12.52. Meanwhile, Russell's 54.38 saw her finishing behind Americans Kori Carter in 53.36 and Shamier Little 54.02.

Kimberly Williams had a season's best 14.54 metres for third behind Colombian Olympic champion Caterine Ibarguen who leapt a season's best 14.86 metres and fellow Colombian Yulimar Rojas 14.83.
