Five time champion jockey Omar Walker is expected to be out of action for just over two months following surgery on a broken right arm sustained in a spill during exercise at Caymanas Park on Friday morning.
Walker had surgery on Friday night and his agent Derrick “Chungie” Keith told RJR Sports on Sunday that Walker could return to the saddle somewhere around mid December.
“The surgery went well and he came home 4:00 Saturday evening. His hand is moving but he will be out until after the Diamond Mile,” said Keith. The Diamond Mile is set for Saturday, December 2.
Walker is leading the current jockey's championship with 69 wins, 24 clear of former champions Shane Ellis and Wesley Henry with 17 racedays to go in the 2017 season.
