Jamaica's Alia Atkinson secured bronze in the women's 100m breaststroke final at the FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia, on Tuesday.
In what was a close finish, Atkinson clocked 1.06.42 to finish just outside of her national record of 1.06.21, which was set in the semi-finals.
This was also Jamaica's first medal at the Championships.
The event was won by Russian Yuliya Efimova who clocked 1.05.55 to dethrone world record holder Lithuania's Ruta Meilutyte was second in 1.06.36.
Atkinson will also compete in the 50m breast stroke, as well as the 50 meter butterfly later this week.
Meanwhile, South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh broke the 50m breaststroke world record in the heats earlier in the day, clocking 26.62 to shave 0.05 seconds off his own record, which he set at the 2009 championship.
