RJR Sports understands that Orville Byfield is no longer the head coach of St George's College's track and field team after just one year in charge.
When contacted by phone Tuesday afternoon, Byfield confirmed with RJR Sports that he turned in his resignation over the Easter weekend. Byfield would not get into details regarding the reason for moving away from St George's College.
The former Kingston College head coach, however noted he would continue to focus on his primary job as head of the Caribbean School of Sports Sciences at the University of Technology. St George's College finished without a point at the recent Boys and Girls Championships, which ended on April 1.
Their top sprinter Jelani Walker, who was not allowed to compete at ‘Champs’, secured bronze in the Under-20 boys 100m over the weekend at the Carifta Championship in Curacao.
