Calabar High ran the fastest time ever by a Jamaican high school team, clocking 3 minutes, 05.04 seconds on their way to dethroning Kingston College of the overall boys’ title at the Corporate Area Development Meet at the National Stadium on Friday. The Red Hills Road quartet of Anthony Carpenter, Christopher Taylor, Shemar Chambers and Malik James-King demolished the old record on their way to copping the title.
The Red Hills Road-based boys dominated right throughout the afternoon winning all the relays contested on the programme for boys. The team first swept the sprint relay events, which was highlighted by a 39.96 seconds record run by the Class 1 team of Rosean Young, Carpenter, Tyreke Wilson and Taylor on anchor.
They then came back to capture the sprint medley open event before capping things off with their high school record run in the mile relay event. Excelsior continued to assert themselves as the top corporate area girls school, retaining the female title ahead of the Queen's School and Camperdown High.
