Chad Wright attains World Champs discus qualifying mark

Jamaica could field three discus throwers at the IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar, after former national champion Chad Wright registered a season's best throw to capture the men's event in Belgium on Saturday. Wright threw 65.13 metres to erase his previous season's best of 62.65 set on August 3, to beat his teammate Basil Bingham who produced 59.01 metres.

Wright has now achieved the World Championships qualifying mark of 65 metres following the result and could join national champion Traves Smikle and national record holder Fedrick Dacres as Jamaica’s representatives at the September 28 – October 6 championship. The former Calabar standout has a personal best of 65.47 metres done last year.
