Champion trainer seeks to break Superstakes jinx

16-time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta will seek to win the only major race to have eluded him on the local calendar when he sends out four of the 8 runners in Saturday's 39th running of the Burger King Superstakes over 10 furlongs at Caymanas Park. His Triple Crown winner She's A Maneater to be ridden by Dane Nelson, is the 4-5 morning-line favourite.

Meanwhile, the most competitive event on the 12-race card is the 29th running of the Caribbean Sprint Championship for the Glen Mills O.D. Trophy over 6 furlongs. At least seven out of the 15 runners have outstanding chances to claim the lion's share of the $2 million purse.

Reigning champion Campesino with Shane Ellis astride, is the 3-1 morning-line favourite. There's also good support for stable companion Buzz Nightmare; Chase The Great; Another Bullet and Crucial Appeal.

The programme will also have the 4th running of the Coca Cola Invitational Mile for a purse of $1.35 million. First post for the 12-race programme is 10:50 am with TVJ Sports Network and Hitz 92 FM having live coverage of all races.
