Clarendon College in DaCosta Cup final

Clarendon College's goal-keeper Eric Edwards saved a penalty deep in extra-time as his team booked their spot in the November 29 final of the ISSA/LIME DaCosta cup in dramatic style over Glenmuir in semi-final one on Friday.

Trying to protect a lead for the second time in the match, Clarendon College's effort was undermined by their own player who handled the ball on a last-gasp effort by Glenmuir in the 23rd minute of extra-time.

It was here that the goal-keeper showed his mettle.

The team, hunting its first title since 1998, had seen their lead cancelled out in the 90th minute to force extra-time.

However Clarendon College had scored their second go-ahead goal from an extra-time penalty converted by Siegel Knight, to lead 2-1 which they kept to the end.

Knight spoke with HITZ92's commentator Ricardo Chambers afterwards, and was asked about his mindset today.

“ I was well focused, well focused for my team. I said we need this, it has been 16 years since we have not won,” Seigel declared.

When asked which team he preferred in the final, Knight said STETHS and gave this stunning reasoning.

“They beat us in the semi-final of the Ben Francis and we are going back for them, seriously,” he said  with a serious face.

The second semi-final between title holders Steths and Dinthill Technical at Jarrett Park on Saturday is scheduled to kick-off at 3 o'clock.
