CONCACAF president Victor Montaglianni says he is confident the North American bid to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be successful. The bid will be decided on Wednesday. USA, Mexico and Canada submitted a joint bid to host the tournament in eight years’ time but are being rivalled by African nation Morocco.
However, speaking at the 33rd CONCACAF Ordinary Congress in Moscow, Russia on Monday, Montagliani argued that the bid was well structured to receive the required support. 207 nations will vote on Wednesday at the FIFA Congress to decide the host country. The United States in 1994 was the last CONCACAF nation to host the World Cup while South Africa in 2010 was the last African country to host the football showpiece.
