Mark Broomfield, JABA President

An October date has been earmarked for the start of an alternative National Confed League to replace

the National Basketball League for the 2015 season.

The Jamaica Basketball Association says a lack of funding continues to  stifle the sport locally.

According to JABA president Dr Mark Broomfield this has resulted in the NBL being shelved for this season and an alternative being contemplated.

“We want to start what we call our Confed Cup which is a shortened version of the NBL. It’s tough to run the NBL this season because of the costs,” Broomfield concluded.

The National Basketball League was last held was during the 2012/2013 season.
