There were contrasting results for the reigning champions as the 2019 ISSA schoolboy football season got underway at the Montego Bay Sports Complex on Saturday. DaCosta Cup title holders Clarendon College were held to a 1-1 draw by Lennon High in the season's opening contest. Richard King opened the scoring for the Chapelton-based school in the third minute from the penalty spot.
However, Alphanso Johnson found the equalizer for the Mocho-based Lennon team in the 13th minute to get a share of the points.
Meanwhile, champions Kingston College had a convincing 4-0 win over Excelsior in the Manning Cup opener.
Ronaldo Robinson opened the scoring in the scoring and this was doubled six minutes later by Sajar Blair.
National Under-17 representative Dwayne Atkinson then scored a double in two minutes to seal the victory for the Ludlow Bernard-coached team.
