CPL terminates participation agreement for St Lucia Stars

St Lucia Stars will not be participating in the 2019 Caribbean Premier League after CPL Limited terminated the participation agreement with Royal Sports Club, LLC , the entity that operates the franchise. The news came via a release from the governing body on Saturday.

However, the CPL has announced that it's in the process though of establishing and operating a new franchise to be based in St Lucia in time for the competition starting on September 4. St Lucia has seen the franchise name and ownership changed from the Zouks in 2013-2016 to the Stars in 2017 and 2018. Reports are that the franchise had several outstanding payments, which was one of the reasons behind its axing. For the upcoming season the stars bagged Lasith Malinga and Fawad Ahmed in the draft as their main overseas players.
