CWI facing internal pressure over Pybus' interim appointment

Cricket West Indies (CWI) is facing internal opposition to its appointment of Richard Pybus as interim head coach with the Leeward Islands Cricket Board (LICB) asking the regional governing body to rescind the appointment of the Englishman. According to the LICB, Pybus was "handpicked" by CWI president Dave Cameron, through an "unacceptable" process.

In an email to CWI signed by directors Enoch Lewis and Denrick Liburd, the LICB noted "it was  unfortunate, unacceptable and unethical for the CWI president to single-handedly recruit a person of his choosing, and to proceed with salary negotiations without the prior knowledge of the board

Pybus who is currently employed as the West Indies' High Performance Director was announced as interim head coach of west indies last week. His tenure is set to start with the home series against England from January 23 and end soon after the home series against India, in September 2019.
