Davis wins first 100m race of the season

National junior representative Kevona Davis was in winning form as she contested her first 100 metre event of the season at Saturday's 10th staging of the Grace Ben Francis Invitational at GC Foster College. Davis who has already posted 22.86 seconds on grass over 200 metres at the STETHS Invitational earlier this season, led from start to finish to comfortably land the Class 1 girls 100 metre dash on Saturday.

She posted 12.08 seconds in the event which was one of four championship races on the programme. The Class 1 boys 100 metres which was also a championship event, went to Kishane Thompson of Garvey Maceo who posted 11.02 seconds.

The two mile relays also had championship event status with Manchester High winning the girls event in 3 minutes, 48.35 seconds and Edwin Allen taking the boys equivalent in 3 minutes, 15.50 seconds. The schools for the winning athletes in the Class one 100 metres received $30,000 each, while the mile relay winning schools each pocketed $40,000.
