Disqualification overshadows feature event at Caymanas Park

There was a disqualification in the Abbie Grannum Memorial Cup for 2 year olds over 7 furlongs at Caymanas Park on Wednesday's midweek programme as first past the post Riddim Up under champion jockey Omar Walker was demoted to second and the race awarded to Braeton Gigolo whose jockey Rujaye Lahoe had lodged an objection against Walker for causing interference. The disqualification denied Walker a three-timer on the programme.

Meanwhile, apprentice Radesh Roman rode the first double of his career. Roman first won aboard the 6-1 shot Lola Grey who was involved in a dead heat with Serious Manipulator in the third event. He closed out his double astride the 5-1 chance Fashionista in the final event which also sealed a double for trainer Anthony "Baba" Nunes.

Leading rider Anthony Thomas is still nine wins clear of Dick Cardenas in the race for the jockey's championship as each rode one win on the programme with Thomas taking his tally to 84 and Cardenas now on 75. Racing continues on Saturday.
