Dowrich slams unbeaten century as Windies take command of first test

Led by a second century from Shane Dowrich, the West Indies were in the ascendancy against Sri Lanka at stumps on day two of the first test at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. The Caribbean side declared  their first innings on 414-for 8 before leaving Sri Lanka struggling at 31-3. Dowrich was left on 125 not out for the West Indies who had resumed on 246-6. 

The day belonged to Dowrich who shared a 102 run 7th wicket partnership with fellow overnight batsman Devendra Bishoo wo made 40 and a 75 run 8th wicket stand with Kemar Roach who made 39. Lahiru Kumara finished with 4 for 95 and Suranga Lakmal 2-55 for the Sri Lankans.

Fiery spells from captain Jason Holder, Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel who took a wicket a piece then left the Sri Lankans in trouble at 31-3 the close. Day three will bowl off at 9:00 am Friday morning Jamaican time.
