Edwin Allen gets bus to transport athletes

2015 winners of the female section of the ISSA Boys and Girls Championships, Edwin Allen, were presented with a busby the Jamaica Urban Transit Company to transport their athletes for the rest of the 2016 track and field season.

Boys’ winners Calabar were presented with a similar gift by the state-run bus company two weeks ago.

The gift will allow the school to save at least $2 million in transportation cost as their athletes participate in various meets across the island ahead of the prestigious Boys and Girls Championships starting March 15.

Meanwhile, HydelHigh's Jada Martin and Glenmuir'sZidaneBrown were among the double winners at the Jamalco Development meet in Clarendon. 

Martin took the class 3 girls 400 meters in 57.78 seconds andthe 100 meters in 11.65 seconds.

Glenmuir's Brown raced to 52.38 seconds to win the class 3 boys 400 meters and 11.21 seconds to win the 100meters. 

Among the other highlights were Garvey Maceo's Nashaun Samuels who won the class one boys 400 meters sin 49.23 seconds while UTech's Jessica Noble was the fastest female over 200 meters on the day with 24.03.

UTech'sTwayne Crooks also clocked 21.78 seconds to winthe men's 200 meters while teammate Jesse Uri-Khob took the 100 meters in 10.28 seconds.
