Eight Jamaicans including 2011 world champion Yohan Blake and Olympic bronze medallist Shericka Jackson are down to compete at Saturday’s Birmingham Diamond League meet. Blake who is the fastest Jamaican so far this season, is currently in with a chance of qualifying for the Diamond League final as he sits 8th in the standings, and will line up in the 100 metre heats.
Another Jamaican, national champion Tyquendo Tracey will also contest the heats of the men's 100. Olympic bronze medalist Shericka Jackson is currently second in the 200 metre standings and will line-up in the half lap event. Commonwealth champion Ronald Levy is currently in the running for the final of that event as he sits 5th in the standings and will line up in the heats of the men's 110 metre hurdles.
Janieve Russell will look to continue her outstanding season as she contests the 400 metre hurdles and renews rivalry with American Shamier Little. Commonwealth Games gold medalist Danielle Thomas-Dodd will contest the women's shot put, NACAC silver medalist Tajay Gayle will contest the men's long jump and Yanique Thompson goes in the women's sprint hurdles, a non Diamond League event.
