Fayrouz captures feature event at Caymanas Park

Last year's Jamaica Oaks winner Fayrouz with inform apprentice reyan lewis, romped to an impressive victory in the Caymanas 60th Anniversary Trophy, an Overnight Allowance contest  over 7-and-a-half furlongs, the feature event on Saturday's 10-race programme. The Anthony "Baba" Nunes-trained 4 year old chestnut filly, sprinted by rivals at the top of the stretch to win ahead of Uncle Vinnie, Summer Sun and Hover Craft.

Fayrouz who won by two-and-three-quarter lengths, came home in 1 minute, 01-and-three-fifths of a second to score her first victory in almost a year. The 2-5 favourite Sparkle Diamond was declared a late non-starter after being injured at the starting gate. Apprentice Kiaman McGreggor had a double on the card. Racing continues next Friday.
