Floyd Mayweather remains undefeated, now undisputed welterweight champion

By Patrick R. Anderson

In the end, Floyd Mayweather cashed in the "money."

For Manny Pacquaio, sheer disappointment.

The judges Dave Moretti, Clemence and Feldman scored a unanimous decision for Mayweather: 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112.

The crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas thought Pacquaio won the fight. The former undisputed world heavyweight champion Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield thought Pacquaio won the fight.

Pacquaio took the fight to Mayweather from round 2 through to 12. Mayweather stayed on the outside where he ought to be. Pacquaio seemed to catch him with combinations. But maybe not.

This writer who predicted Mayweather to win, scored the fight 116-112 for Pacquaio or 8 rounds to 4 for the Phillipino.

This fight reminds me of the result of Sugar Ray Leonard versus Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Remember what Hagler did after that loss. He never fought again and moved away from the USA to live in Italy.

Mayweather, the WBA, WBC and WBO undisputed welterweight champion improved his record to 48-0 and 26 knockouts, while Pacquaio fell to 57-6, 2 draws and 38 knockouts.

Interestingly, 4 of Pacquaio's 6 losses have occured at the MGM Grand, where Saturday's fight took place.
