Burrell says CFU members will now cooperate with FIFA’s bribery probe

Captain Horace Burrell, the President of the Jamaica Football Federation, who is now the acting president of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), say the members of the union will now fully cooperate with FIFA's bribery investigation after the venue for interviews was moved to the Bahamas.

The CFU members had objected to the interviews being held in Miami but Burrell said to bring closure to the ethics committee proceedings, members of the CFU will fully cooperate with any investigation being conducted on behalf of the FIFA Ethics Committee.

Meanwhile, Patrick John, the President of the Dominica Football Association, has denied any involvement in the cash-for-vote scandal that has rocked the global football fraternity.

John joins several other CFU federations which have already distanced themselves from the charges that have split CONCACA, the continental governing body for North and Central America and the Caribbean.

It has been alleged that member associations of the CFU received US$40,000 bribes from Mohamed Bin Hammam, the suspended president of the Asian Football Confederation, in exchange for their votes in the FIFA presidential elections on June 1, against incumbent Joseph ‘Sepp’ Blatter.

John, who attended the May 10 and 11 meeting in Trinidad and Tobago, when the bribes were allegedly handed out, said no offer of money was made to his association.

Other CFU embers, including Jamaica and Barbados, have already denied receiving money in exchange for their votes.
