ISSA’s Competitions Officer George Forbes has hit out at the recent decision by Munro College to ask for a change of time for their ISSA Flow DaCosta Cup first round match against arch rivals St Elizabeth Technical on September 30. The match was originally advertised as a night match but Munro had the time shifted because of concerns about playing under the lights at STETHS.
But Forbes says the Munro team knew about the conditions of the match from well in advance and that efforts were made to make them more comfortable playing under the lights at STETHS.
“We even offered to them that what you need to do is go to STETHS and tell STETHS you want a training session under lights and STETHS would have accommodated you but they waited until the eleventh hour to decide that that no we have not agreed to play under lights at STETHS,” said Forbes.
Meanwhile, Forbes also spoke about why ISSA continues to use the Constant Spring field for second round matches in the Manning Cup despite complaints about the playing surface at the venue.
“The parents don’t want us to go to Tivoli; Waterhouse and Arnett Gardens especially in the second round where more is at stake. Most of the schools are saying they don’t want to go to Arnett,” Forbes noted.
