Fraser Pryce, getting better, finishes 2nd in Glasgow

World and Olympic Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce produced an improved performance but was still not at her best in a second place finish in the 100 meters on day two of the IAAF Diamond League meet in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday.

Fraser Pryce was overtaken in the closing stages by the “new kid on the block”, Michelle Lee Aye of Trinidad and Tobago.

The victory was Aye's ninth consecutive this season as she heads to the Commonwealth Games as favorite.

Fraser Pryce though is disappointed the two will not have a re-match in the Scottish city.

Kerron Stewart, who will represent Jamaica at the Commonwealth games, ended 4th in 11.22 while Simone Facey was 5th in 11.30.

Samantha Henry Robinson looked out of sorts in the women's 200m, finishing last in 23.43.

Daphne Schippers created a big upset, clocking a Netherlands record 22.34 to turn back Olympic Champion Allyson Felix 22.35 and Nigerian Blessing Okagbare 22.41.

Schippers had earlier set a national 100m record 11.03 in a race where Commonwealth bound Jamaican Schillonie Calvert ended 4th in 11.34 seconds.

Damar Forbes was well below his best in the men's long jump leaping 7.75 meters for 5th in the event won by American Jeff Henderson with 8.21 meters.
