Two time Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was narrowly beaten into second place in the women's 100 meters at the Gala Dei Castelli International Athletics Meeting in Switzerland on Wednesday. Fraser-Pryce, who continues her come back clocked 11.15 seconds for the runner-up spot behind home town girl Mujinga Kambundji of Switzerland 11.13.
Meanwhile, another Jamaican, Tajay Gayle produced a life-time best performance to win the men's long jump to highlight the jamaican performances at Wednesday’s meet. The 22 year old Gayle leapt a new personal best 8.19 meters to win the event and improve on his previous best of 8.17 meters which was done at the Rome Diamond League in May.
2013 World Championship bronze medallist Nesta Carter won the men's 100m B race, clocking 10.24 seconds ahead of compatriot Asafa Powell who was third in 10.44. The “A” race was won by American Mike Rodgers in 9.92 ahead former Jamaican sprinter Jak Ali Harvey of Turkey 10.13 with compatriot Justin Gatlin 4th in 10.13.
