The regulatory body for local racing, the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) will return to its former location on Hagley Park Road by the end of the year. The JRC, the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC) and the Casino Gaming Commission are set to be merged once the policy paper is approved by Cabinet.
The unification will form part of ongoing efforts to merge the three independent gaming regulators into one regulatory state body. Clovis Metcalfe who is chairman of all three entities, says the policy paper has been completed and may go to Cabinet sometime this month.
Metcalfe added that they are moving into the fast lane in preparation for the merger as they look to transform the organizations. Metcalfe was speaking recently at the opening ceremony of the International Association of Gaming Regulators in Montego Bay.
