Gayle and Tallawahs make losing start in 2019 CPL

Chris Gayle's return to the Tallawahs ended in disappointment on Friday night as the Jamaican franchise went down by 22 runs to defending champions Trinbago Knightriders at the Queen’s Park Oval. Sent to bat, the Knightriders recovered from the early loss of Lendl Simmons to post 191-4.

The innings was anchored by opener Tion Webster who was left unbeaten on 66 while Sunil Narine batting at number three scored 46 and captain Kieron Pollard 33 not out. Christopher Lamont, Andre Russell, Shamar Springer and Stven Jacobs all had a wicket each for the Tallawahs.

In reply, the Tallawahs top order misfired with Gayle and Chadwick Walton both getting 28. However, George Worker 46 not out and Andre Russell 44, kept the Tallawahs hoping before they fell short at 169-6. Sunil Narine 2-23 and Jimmy Neesham 2-27 ended pick of the TKR bowlers.
