Grace Shield coaches weigh in on ISSA's stance against improper cricket gear

Report by RJR Gleaner Group Sports Reporter Daniel Blake

At least two Grace Shield coaches are of the view that the Inter Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA), will face challenges with the new rule to stop players from competing in schoolboy cricket competitions.

On Friday, some of Tarrant High's players were prevented from playing by umpires in their match against Innswood for wearing improper shoes as they did not meet the ISSA  requirements.

However, coach of Kingston College Andrew Richardson says schools will find it difficult to get funding to meet the ISSA rules. Coach of St Catherine High Wayne Morgan says the rules should be relaxed for the players.

President of the Jamaica Cricket Umpires Association (JCUA) Norman Malcolm believes it’s time for standards to be set for the sport.

Meanwhile, the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) is in support of ISSA’s stance against improper attire during games at the schoolboy level.
