Haile Selassie gives Geoffrey Maxwell untimatum

Voices of Haile Selassie's Sports Department HOD Judith Wynter and coach Geoffrey Maxwell

Haile Selassie High School has given the much-travelled coach Geoffrey Maxwell until 8:00 o'clock Thursday morning to make a decision regarding his present status with the school's Manning Cup team.

Maxwell who is the contracted head coach of Haile Selassie, was on the bench of Dinthill Technical on Wednesday as they went down 1-0 to Lennon in quarter final round action from the ISSA Flow DaCosta Cup at the Wembley Community Centre in Clarendon.

Maxwell took up the reins at Dinthill in an unofficial capacity on Tuesday following the sacking of his predecessor Kevin ‘Sensay’ Williams on the weekend.

Judith Wynter, Head of the Sports Department at Haile Selassie who was a guest on Sports Grill on Hits 92 FM on Wednesday, said uncertainty now surrounds the present status of Maxwell.

“He has not called us to say that he’s at Dinthill. He came by this evening (Wednesday) after the game in Clarendon (Dinthill versus Lennon) and walked around then left. He had a training session (scheduled for) yesterday (Tuesday) but called to say the captain should carry out the training. The decision that we take is Mr Geoffrey Maxwell has to decide which school he’s coaching,” said Wynter.

Maxwell who was also a guest on Sports Grill on Wednesday, was insisted that he was still in charge of Haile Selassie.

Maxwell even got irritated and ended the conversation abruptly.“After the game in Montego Bay (versus Rusea’s in the Flow Super Cup on Saturday), I told the players to take a break because I would not resume training with them until Wednesday,” said Maxwell.
