Harbour View FC striker Kevaughn Frater will depart the island on Wednesday to take up a loan agreement with United Soccer League (USL) side Real Monarchs SLC which is affiliated with Major League Soccer (MLS) club Real Salt Lake.
Frater was a part of the Reggae Boyz squad in November for their CONCACAF semi final round World Cup Qualifiers against Panama and Haiti.
The 21 year old Frater was recently invited to the MLS Combine in Florida from January 8 – 13 after being recommended by former Harbour View player and now FIFA agent Damani Ralph.
The recommendation was accepted by the MLS organization.
The former Jamaica College player who was into his third season with Harbour View, has scored seven goals so far in 14 matches for the 'Stars of the East' in the Red Stripe Premier League this season.
He has embraced this latest opportunity: “I want to develop my game a lot more and be more focused, humble and just score some goals. If I do well in the USL team there’s a chance that I may get to play in the MLS the following season; it just depends on what is in store,” said Frater.
Harbour View's coach Ludlow Bernard believes Frater is ready for the step-up.
"He has been putting in quite a bit of work over the past few years in terms of his development and an opportunity has arisen for him and I think that he has managed to showcase some of his talent over the last two to three seasons and now is another opportunity for him to showcase it once more," said Bernard.
