Headley Weeks competition resumes

Jamaica will resume Monday's penultimate day of their Headley Weeks trophy semi final against Barbados  at the Kensington Oval  with an overall lead of 39 runs.

The "Bajans" will continue their second innings at 18 for 1 with Kraigg Brathwaite, who was dropped on 3, and  Shai Hope the not out batsmen on 7 and 5 respectively.

Sheldon Cotterel has so far claimed the lone wicket, that of Omar Phillips for 2.

Meanwhile, Captain Lambert saved his best ever knock for the semi final stage of the competition as he scored a maiden first class century to give Jamaica the advantage on day two.

Lambert slammed 121 to rescue Jamaica from 117 for 4 to post 302 responding to Barbados' 245 in their first innings. His knock was laced with 12 fours and four sixes.

Jermaine Blackwood was the next best contributor with 37, John Campbell 31 and Damion Jacobs 21.

Spinner Sulieman Benn captured 5 for 102 while Fidel Edwards claimed 2 for 58.

Jamaica has so far garnered 6 bonus points to Barbados' 4.

Barbados had beaten Jamaica inside three days at Sabina Park in the preliminary rounds.

Meanwhile, in the other semi final at the Queen's Park Oval, the Windwards are holding an overall lead of 196 over Trinidad and Tobago.

They are set to resume on 88 for 2 with Devon Smith on 44 and Sunil Ambris 13. Trinidad and Tobago made a bold declaration on Sunday in a bid to avoid conceding too many bowling points against the Windward Islands.

Evin Lewis made an unbeaten 47, while Denesh Ramdin made 25, as the Trinis ended their first innings reply at 140 for 8  responding to the Windwards' 248 on a rain affected second day.

Mervin Matthew was the main destroyer with 4 for 19 and Delorn Johnson 2 for 44. Both teams have secured 3 bonus points in the game so far.
