Sergeon takes first steps
Jamaica’s lone female jockey,21 year old female jockey Georgina Sergeon has taken her first steps, and has begun the rehabilitation process.
Sergeon, took her first steps on saturday night, February 4.
This after suffering three broken vertebrae in her lower back and damage to her spine in a spill at Caymanas park during the 7th event on January 21, when she fell from her mount tricky train .
Sergeon was transferred from the Spanish Town hospital to the University Hospital, where she underwent more than six hours of emergency surgery on the night of Tuesday January 24.
Unable to walk since the spill, the indomitable Sergeon took her first steps Saturday night, and started on Tuesday what is expected to be a grueling rehabilitation, which could last up to nine months, or even a year.
