IAAF confirms allegiance of former Jamaican reps

Three former Jamaican representatives will have the opportunity to compete for their new countries at the Olympic Games in Rio after the sport’s governing body, the IAAF confirmed their switch of allegiance. Emre Zafer Barnes, formerly Winston Barnes, Kemarley Brown and Andrew Fisher are the athletes.

Barnes has been eligible to represent Turkey since June 24, 2015. However, Brown and Fisher are not eligible to compete in international competition for Bahrain until August 19 this year.

That means they will definitely not be able to contest  the 100 or 200 metres in Rio but could potentially run the 4x100m  which starts on the day they become eligible.

Meanwhile, little known multi-events specialist Brittney Howell has switched from the United States and decided to represent Jamaica.
