Track and field's world governing body, the IAAF on Wednesday ratified the World Under-20 sprint hurdles record of 12.71 seconds done by Jamaica's Brittany Anderson. Anderson, the 2017 World U18 champion, twice broke the World U20 hurdles record at the Motonet Grand Prix in Finland on July 24.
The 18-year-old Jamaican, who is young enough to be an U20 athlete next year, clocked 12.79 in her heat before winning the final in 12.71. The previous World U20 record of 12.84 seconds was set by Cuba's Aliuska Lopez in Zagreb in 1987.
The IAAF also ratified American Dalilah Muhammad's world 400m hurdles record of 52.20 seconds which she ran at the US National Championships in July.
