INF working to spread netball around the globe

Voice of International Netball Federation CEO Claire Breigal

As the International Netball Federation (INF) continues its push to get netball into the Olympic Games, a number of issues were discussed at its three day board meeting which ended on Sunday.

CEO of the International Netball Federation Claire Breigal said one of the main focal points of the meeting was to spread the sport of netball to more countries and increase the competitiveness of the global game.

“Netball in the past has been dominated by Australia and New Zealand and then in recent years we have seen England and Jamaica really grow stronger and then Malawai and South Africa who are capable of beating England and may be Australia; so that’s what we would like to see,” said Breigal.

Meanwhile, President of the INF Molly Rhone says board members reviewed all their international tournaments including the World Youth Cup in July, the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and the Netball World Cup in 2019.
