JAAA boss reveals young sprinter Grant to miss National Champs

Voice of JAAA president Dr Warren Blake

JAAA president Dr Warren Blake has confirmed that outstanding national junior sprinter Kiara Grant is one of the major absentees from this week's JAAA Supreme Ventures National Senior and Junior Championships. Grant who briefly held the national junior 100 metre record at 11.04 seconds, would have been a top contender in the junior section and may have even been eyeing the senior trials according to Dr Blake.

“The only surprise is that Kiara Grant did not enter for the 100m women. When she was contacted she said she had her mind set on the World Championships in Doha but because of college commitments, she would not be able to get the time off from college, so she opted not to come,” said Dr Blake. Grant, a former Convent of Mercy Alpha Academy student, is now a sophomore at Norfolk State University in Virginia.
