JAAA stands ready to assist with insurance claim for deceased athlete

Local Track & Field's governing body, the Jamaica Administrative Athletics Association, JAAA,  has taken part responsibility for the delay re the outstanding insurance claim in the case involving the late St. Jago High athlete Cavahn McKenzie.

Two weeks ago, RJR Sports aired the story of the family of the late St. Jago athlete, accusing the Government of neglect and questioned the circumstances surrounding his death after receiving the long delayed autopsy report. Included in their complaint of neglect, was the absence of the insurance claim for Cavahn's death.

Almost a year has elapsed since Cavahn died on February 22, 2014, and was later buried on March 16, 2014.

So RJR Sports enquired if the claim was still valid while speaking with JAAA's boss Dr. Warren Blake.

He admitted that the two parties have not communited in close to a year, but Dr. Bake says his organisation stands ready to assist the family with the insurance claim. When RJR Sports contacted Cavahn's  family, we were told their lawyer would be handling the matter.
