Jamaica end NACAC Championships with 39 medals

Jamaica's athletes will begin arriving home on Tuesday evening from the NACAC Under 18 and Under 23 Championships in Mexico having secured 39 medals, comprising 18 gold, 13 silver, 8 bronze. The team secured 6 more medals on Sunday, comprising 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze. Rajay Morris got gold in the Under 18 boys 200 metres in 20.82 seconds after qualifying for the final with a time of 20.88.

Jordan Turner was the other individual gold medallist on the day, getting his second medal at the championships when he won the Under 18 triple jump with a best leap of 14.52 metres. Jamaica also got gold in the Under 23 mixed 4X400 metres. The team of Terry Thomas, Shiann Salmon, Martin Manley and Roneisha McGreggor stopped the clock in 3 minutes, 16.99 seconds to beat the USA and Canada.

Danielle Spence was a silver medallist in the Under 23 triple jump after a best effort of 13.24 metres. The quartet of Deandre Watkin, Daniella Deer, Kenya Thompson and Devontie Archer got silver in the Under 18 mixed 4X400 metres. Jamaica's other medallist on the day was Obrien Wasome who took bronze in the Under 23 triple jump.
