Jamaica make losing start at regional Under-15 cricket tournament

Jamaica's Under-15 team made a losing start at the regional cricket championship in Antigua on Saturday, going down by six wickets to Guyana at the Ball Beef Liberta. Batting first, the Jamaicans posted a competitive 243-8 from their 50 overs. Steven Wedderburn was the chief scorer with an unbeaten 74 from 93 balls.

Opener Adrian Weir contributed 26 while Odel Samuels and Reon Edwards made 16 and 15 respectively. Zachary Jodah claimed 3-46. In response, the Phillip Service-coached Jamaicans had no response for opener Rampertab Ramnauth who stroked 114, as the Guyanaese cruised to victory at 244-4 with 27 balls to spare.

Jadon Campbell made 47 and Mavendra Dindyal 42. Captain Jordon Johnson, Xavi Williams, Damar Freeburn and weir took a wicket each.  The Jamaicans will next be in action on Sunday against the Windward Islands.
