Jamaica opens medal account at Carifta Swimming Championship

Kokolo Foster mined Jamaica's first medal at the 34th annual Carifta Swimming Championship  in Barbados on Saturday. Foster picked up silver in the girls 11-12 200m breaststroke in a  time of 2 minutes, 53.16 seconds. Meanwhile, Sabrina Lyn led the Jamaican qualifiers with a Carifta Swimming Championships record and new personal best of 1 minute, 03.47 seconds in the girls' 13-14 100m butterfly heats.

The previous Carifta Swimming Championships record was 1:03.50 set in 2016 by Emma Harvey of Bermuda. Lyn's time also represents a national age-group record. Lyn had the previous record of 1 minute 03.82 seconds.
