Jamaica seeking to improve 18 medal count at Special Olympics

Jamaica could improve on its 18 medals so far at the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, California on Friday afternoon.

The country's unified football team will contest the final of their event on Friday.

The country will also begin its campaign in volleyball as well as soft ball throw on Friday.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Jamaica secured three medals including gold from swimmer Nicholas McBean in the M15 50m freestyle event. This was his second medal at the Games after taking silver in the 100m freestyle.

Another swimmer, Leon Barclay, also won silver in the M10 50m freestyle event while Monique Johnson won silver in the D11 women's 100m final.

Jamaica has so far won 18 medals including  5 gold, 11 silver and three bronze medals at the games.
