Jamaica Weightlifting Federation relaunched

The sport of weightlifting has received a major lift locally with the relaunch of the local governing body. To date four Jamaicans have represented the country in weightlifting at Olympics with the last person being the late Calvin Stamp who did so the at 1984 and 1988 Games.

The Jamaica Weight Lifting Federation which has been dormant for a number of years was relaunched  earlier this week in Kingston and is also now  a member of the International Weightlifting Federation. A national draft for athletes in the sport of weightlifting  will be held from January 27-31.
