Jamaica ended its four year drought by winning the Carifta junior chess title for a second time in four years at the Knutsford Court Hotel in Kingston.
Having first won the Carifta chess tournament in 2013 as the host nation, expectations were high once more for a second title on home soil.
The national junior players did not disappoint, winning four of the six individual categories, as Jamaica dethroned Barbados for the overall trophy.
Woman Candidate Master Adani Clarke of St Jago High was a double winner, taking the Under-16 and Under-14 categories, which were merged, turning back Pritika Kanda-Maran of Barbados to end with 6 points. Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago ended second and third respectively.
