Jamaican debutant to face Canadian challenger in Contender Series

Highly rated Mexican-born fighter Ricardo Salas will look to cut the deficit for Team Canada in the Wray and Nephew Contender Series when he takes on Jamaican debutant Scean-Antonie Johnson at the Chinese Benevolent Association headquarters on Wednesday night.

19-year-old Salas, who knocked out 2013 Contender Series welterweight champion Devon Moncrieff last October, said he was in good condition for Wednesday's fight. Johnson whose amateur record stands at 9 wins and 6 losses, says he will be creating one of the biggest upsets in the Contender Series come Wednesday night.

Salas, who has seven professional wins to his name, tipped the scale at 144 pounds,two pounds lighter than Johnson. TVJ will have live coverage starting at 9:30 pm on Wednesday.
