Jamaica's women beaten in final at Rugby Americas North Championship

Jamaica's women's rugby team lost the final of the Rugby Americas North Tens Championship after going down 19-12 to the United States in Mexico on Friday. The Lady Crocs went into the half time break leading 12-5, thanks to tries from Shanique Smith and captain Sasha-Gaye Green.

However, in the second half, the Americans used their physical presence to their advantage and levelled the game at 12-12 with a minute to go. In that final minute, their captain Tiara Lyston gave the Americans the 19-12 victory.

Captain of Jamaica's team Sasha Gaye Green says despite the loss, she is pleased with Jamaica's run at the tournament. Green says she hopes their historic second place finish will inspire more women in Jamaica to play the sport of rugby.

Meanwhile, Jamaica's Under-19 rugby team will be looking to secure third place in the Rugby Americas North Under-19 Championship when they take on the Cayman Islands in Mexico on Saturday. So far in the competition the young Crocs lost 65-6 to Mexico and 23-12 to the USA. Mexico and USA will meet in the final later in the day. In the last edition of this competition in 2016, Jamaica won the
