JC and STATHS oozing confidence for Manning Cup finale

Voices of JC's coach Miguel Coley and STATHS' coach Phillip Williams

The battle for Corporate Area schoolboy football supremacy will be on the line on Friday evening when 4-time defending champions Jamaica College take on surprise package St Andrew Technical in the Manning Cup final at 6:00 pm. JC will be going for their 28th title overall while STATHS will be seeking to break a 30 year old drought, having won their only title back in 1987.

JC are going in search of a second title this season, having already lifted the Walker Cup knockout. “I’m expecting a tough game; even tougher than the last two games. I believe they are a team that has evolved into a tougher team. We have also evolved as a team and we are getting better,” said JC’s coach Miguel Coley.

The Bumper Hall-based St Andrew Techical are carrying the weight of the school community and surrounding areas around Spanish Town Road.

“Right now the feeling in the school is one of admiration and a lot of pride and that was the situation before we even got to this stage so winning the final would boost that a hundred folds,” said STATHS’ coach Phillip Williams.

TVJ Sports Network and Hitz 92 FM will both have live commentary starting at 5:55 pm.
